Entry 1[]

Unlock: To unlock, complete the mission Zen and Sword are One.

Yagyu Sekishusai, real name Muneyoshi, is a swordsman from Yamato province. He is a disciple of Kamiizumi Nobutsuna and skilled in various schools including Toda and Shinto. He also became the designated heir to the Shinkage style, of which there could be only one per province. Sekishusai is interested in nothing but the sword, and puts himself through gruelling training sessions each night, sparring with Tengu and the like. As a result however, he is said to have learned how to face an opponent entirely unarmed, steal their weapon and defeat them.

Entry 2[]

Unlock: To unlock, complete the mission Zen and Sword are One 3 times.

Entering the service of Matsunaga Hisahide, Sekishusai acted as guide during Oda Nobunaga's invasion of Yamato province. When it became difficult for him to fulfill his duties due to injury, he retired his position with the Matsunaga clan and retreated from the world to become a hermit. His name, which means "stone boat", is said to be a self-deprecating reference of his own ineptitude at riding the waves of life in the world. In his final years, he demonstrated his swordless technique for Tokugawa Ieyasu. Ieyasu offered him employment, but Sekishusai suggested that his son Munemori would be a better choice. This was the beginning of the Yagyu clan's greatest flowering.
