Mujina (貉, むじな, mujina) is an enemy in Nioh.

Character Directory[]

Mujina are badgers transformed into crafty and cunning Yokai. Like foxes and tanuki, stories of them diguising themselves as humans to do mischief have circulated since ancient times. They enjoy hiding inside treasure chests and springing out to surprise whoever opens the lid.

Mujina love playing pranks and causing trouble, and are not necessarily malicious by nature. They may move strangely to see how a startled person reacts, but if that person responds with the same movement, they will leave the area, satisfied with their newfound playmate.

Location[]

Mujina can spawn randomly in any level that has treasure chests. They have a higher chance to spawn during Twilight Missions.

Behavior[]

Mujina are not naturally hostile to the player. They sit in their chests, which can be distinguished from normal chests by having three gold lines instead of two, until disturbed. When a player unwittily opens their box or whistles for them, they will pop out. After this the player must match their emote, or then the Mujina becomes hostile. Mujinas will transform into the player, using their gear and weapons to attack the player. If the emote is correctly chosen, within the time frame, Mujina will drop a pile of loot and disappear. Killing the Mujina is the only way to get its Sole Core.

Weak Spot & Tactics[]

Mujina are not typical enemies. They do not attack the player unless they are instigated by either not playing along with their emote game or if they are attacked. They will use whatever weapons and armor the player they are mimicking is using. They have no set strength or weakness aside from the stats of the gear the player is currently using.

Drops[]

  • Drops a variety of different loot.

Trivia[]

  • The Mujina in the game wears its testicles on its head as a sort of hat.
